Empowered You!
The Empowered You event taught children the importance of knowing their worth as a human being. A variety of guest speakers discussed the importance of accepting yourself just as you are and not jealously comparing yourself to others on social media or anywhere in life’s journey. This was followed by an arts activity where the youngsters chose and decorated an empowering word that represented how they valued themselves.
Heal the Soul
Our souls, as beautiful as they are, need a body to touch this world. And that body needs good nutrition! Heal the Soul is about teaching the joy that we can find in the self-care choices we make. A nutritionist provided fun and interesting guidance that acknowledged the importance of wholesome eating, maintaining an uplifted outlook for mental health and the benefits of regular exercise.
Sow the Seed
Our joys and loves are the fruit of life. But all fruit must be cultivated and nurtured. Sow the Seed is all about planting and nourishing the seeds that bear the mental and spiritual fruits of love, joy, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, authenticity and forbearance towards yourself and others in the community. The activity at this event was helping kids plant flowers in small pots that they could take home, nurture and see blossom — just like themselves.
Fun in the Sun!
Kids need to be able to do kid things and play kid games — real games, with real kids. Events like Fun in the Sun are all about play! We get the kids away from the screens and on to the greens! Egg races, Hula-Hoops and other games let the kids disconnect from distractions and connect to laughter, excitement and to each other. It lets them simply enjoy what it feels like to be alive and happy as a child. And speaking of kids, the adults discover the kid in themselves and share their hard-won playground wisdom with the youngsters!
